Business Development Associate/Specialist

Primary Purpose

The Business Development Specialist/Associate will be responsible for grant and partner cultivation and management at Youth Impact. This is an exciting and critical role within the organisation as it will connect the dots between our health and education programs and partners by building and maintaining strong relationships, synthesizing and sharing our successes and strategies, and helping conceptualise new opportunities.  We are seeking a go-getter with excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking and organization skills, and who can speak the language of global donors.  The Specialist/Associate will sit within our Innovation and Development team -  a creative, collaborative, and agile team in Youth Impact. This team uniquely embraces start-up thinking and sustainable strategizing, accelerates programmatic impact and global partnerships, translates cutting-edge research into actionable products, and builds strong organizational branding. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Grant Management (Reporting) 

  • Ensure fulfilment of all donor requirements for the relevant awards. Lead grant reporting including tracking of reporting timelines and coordinating timely completion of required reports, integrating input from relevant departments as required. 

  • Nurture and manage donor relations including tracking of current and prospective donors and creating content for quarterly calls with donors. 

 

    2. Partnership Management 

  • Lead and/or support relationships with partners and stakeholders. Participate in weekly calls with the relevant teams. 

  • Develop tracking tools to monitor partner progress for relevant grant reports. 

 

   3. Proposal Development

  • Contribute to program growth and development by leading proposal processes, including drafting content, team coordination, and review.  Provide strategic direction for narrative content and budgets.

 

   4. Growth Strategy and Planning 

  • Work with the program management teams to set growth strategies and plans. Set scale targets and key performance metrics. Mobilise resources where required. 

  • Provide strategic guidance and insights related to program budgeting, assisting with the budgeting process as required. 

 

The role will require an in-depth knowledge of organizational principles and ethos, as well as organizational programs and expansion plans, including facets of curriculum, training, and research.  

 

Required Skills and Experiences

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and meeting facilitation skills. Ability to discuss technical and strategic content in an articulate manner. An eye for visual aesthetic and layouts is a plus. 

  • Minimum 3 years’ proven experience in donor fundraising or partnership management or related field

  • A data-driven and critical-thinking mindset with the ability to synthesize information from various sources to formulate compelling narratives around lessons learned, key highlights, and recommendations forward. . 

  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, capable of working individually and as part of a global, cross-functioning  team. Project management/coordination experience preferred. 

 

Preferred Skills & Experiences

  • Experience in sectors such as education, public health, non-profit, or international development.
